“Dear PoPville,

I’m so sad to hear about the news of Basebowl’s closing. It will always hold a special place in my heart — it unexpectedly became part of a fun ‘tradition’ with a new person in my life!

I met this guy in the summer of ‘24 out in the wild (in DC, meaning an ABA networking event that I crashed with a friend). We saw each other a few more times in a chaotic kind of way, but our friendship / budding romance rekindled in the spring of ‘25 with the start of baseball season.

We first stumbled upon Basebowl (more…)

You’ve had your spotify wrapped and now it’s time for your Metro Rewind:

“Metro is proud to announce the launch of the 2025 edition of Metro Rewind, your personalized ridership report, at MetroRewind.com!

Now in its third year, customers will find an all-new experience with even more data, an eye-catching art collage, and new badges to celebrate your transit-riding achievements. Keep an eye out for fun easter eggs along the way.

Rewind’s design this year is a love letter to the DMV we call home and features homages to art from across the region and nods to Metro’s past. The experience mirrors the region itself: layered, diverse, and always in motion. The collage style captures how every rider experiences the DMV differently, yet together we form one connected picture.

Metro Rewind isn’t just data — it’s a celebration of your year in transit, transforming each person’s transit history into a vivid, shareable snapshot that captures how you move across the region.

This year, your detailed report includes: (more…)

ANYWAY, a massive snowball fight erupted at 14th and U Streets, NW UNTIL (more…)

Well this is magnificent. Someone has created an IG page for Solly’s Yuletide Tavern after the glorious tree was put up at Solly’s.

“DC’s Premier Christmas Pop Up Bar”

WARNING: If you go to the IG page – there are disturbing AI photo of Solly’s namesake. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Solly’s (11th and U Street, NW) is of course not a Christmas Pop Up Bar but IS one of the best “regular” bars in DC. (more…)
