Adding to Sunday’s madness, this just in from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fourth District seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating suspects in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) that occurred on Sunday, January 26, 2020, in the 3500 block of Holmead Place, Northwest.

At approximately 2:30 pm, the suspects approached the victim at the listed location. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and shot at the victim. The suspects then fled the scene. No injuries were reported. (more…)


Event

The DC Chamber Musicians close out the 25-26 season with popular works by Brahms and Dohnanyi, and three selections of newer works that are sure to delight. All set in the lovely St. Thomas’ Parish Episcopal Church in the Dupont Circle neighborhood. Join us afterward for a reception featuring light refreshments (including beer and wine) and an opportunity to chat with the musicians.

Looks like more trouble for the former Diet Starts Monday, The BBQ Joint, Den of Thieves, Hanoi House, and Blackbyrd Warehouse space.

Thanks to Margaret (and others) for sending: “Any word on Bar Lorea at 14th and U? According to Google, they’re permanently closed. It’s a shame, since it had become a go-to. I was last there in late November and it was packed.”

They only opened in September of 2019. Their website has expired and their last Facebook post in January 11th. (more…)


Crime

In addition to the shooting in Park View which is now a homicide the following also occurred yesterday.

From MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, January 26, 2020, in the Unit Block of N Street, Southwest.

At approximately 2:15 pm, members of the First District responded to the rear of the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 36 year-old Eric Delonte Barbour, of Southwest, DC. (more…)
