Huge growth since we first posted about All In Service DC on December 29th – nice!

From a press release:

“Launched at the end of 2016, All In Service DC organizes over 50 Washington, DC service businesses to donate profits from inauguration weekend to local service organizations. The 50 plus businesses are as diverse as the city, such as new-to-town Momofuku CCDC and longstanding Cafe Saint-Ex. A furniture store, Miss Pixie’s Furnishings & whatnot, and Logan 14 Aveda Salon & Spa have joined too.

“We invite all of DC’s business to join this amazing effort to demonstrate commitment to community,” says Alaina Dyne, All In Service DC co-creator. “We’d love to see the entire DC service industry participate to show our commitment to hospitality and community, when we’re serving hundreds of thousands of visitors. This inauguration weekend, eat and drink in DC for good.”

All In Service DC’s goals are both to fundraise for local service organizations and also to provide an opportunity for service workers throughout the city to contribute to their community, while they are working the inauguration weekend. (more…)

julias

Because they’ve been around for so long, I sometimes forget about their deliciousness. You can see Julia’s Empanadas full menu here. But make no mistake – the SALTEñAS are the best!

There are locations in Adams Morgan, Dupont Circle and Brightwood.

This is the former Goethe-Institut that moved to K Street a year ago.

The liquor license placard says:

“An American Restaurant & Brew House that serves lunch and dinner, including a large variety of local draft beers. Seating Capacity of 338, Total Occupancy Load of 538, and a Sidewalk Cafe with 40 seats. Dancing and Entertainment.”

Yard House’s website says:

“If you’ve been to a Yard House, you know there’s an unmistakable energy to the place – an excitement that you feel the moment you walk in the door. So we turned our cameras loose to try to capture that spirit. Check out the experience that define us – because more than beer, more than classic rock, more than delicious food, even more than a brand – We are Yard House!

You can see their Springfield, VA menus here.

Updates as they get closer to opening.

Right above Appioo African/Ghanian restaurant.  I wonder if it’s the same folks from the Fasika that closed at 4422 Georgia Ave, NW in Petworth?

Fasika’s website says:

“Best Ethiopian Cuisine in Washington, DC, variety of vegetarian dishes, often very spicy and mild meat dishes, mainly chicken, beef, lamb and fish. Fasika is conveniently located in the U Street Corridor of Washington DC.”

Check out their menu here.

3714 14th Street, NW at Quincy

Last week we learned that Mezcalero Cocina Mexicana, “the highly anticipated second restaurant concept from Chef Alfredo Solis and his sister Jessica, will open Friday, January 13.

Mezcalero will feature some dishes from El Sol, but will also showcase more flavors Chef Solis came to love growing up in Mexico City. Included on its menu are 17 different street tacos, a selection of Guisados, or Mexican stews and Tacos de Canasta, or “basket of tacos,” the popular soft, steamed tacos sold on the streets of Mexico D.F. Additionally, as the restaurant’s name implies, Mezcalero will have an extensive mezcal menu with craft cocktails created by head bartender Arturo Zaloga.”
