Fasika Ethiopian Restaurant opens on 9th Street in Shaw

1924 9th Street, NW

Right above Appioo African/Ghanian restaurant.  I wonder if it’s the same folks from the Fasika that closed at 4422 Georgia Ave, NW in Petworth?

Fasika’s website says:

“Best Ethiopian Cuisine in Washington, DC, variety of vegetarian dishes, often very spicy and mild meat dishes, mainly chicken, beef, lamb and fish. Fasika is conveniently located in the U Street Corridor of Washington DC.”

Check out their menu here.

Or the one that used to be in Adams Morgan across the street from Meskerem and the Red Sea.

+1. It used to be my favorite!
Or is Fasika a common Ethiopian word?

      • Rich

Yeah, much better than that tourist trap, Meskerem.

Fasika is the word for Easter in several Ethiopian languages.

Congratulations to the owners! They just opened, and are already “The Best Ethiopian Cuisine in DC”. They must be doing something right.
