“I write here to report that my friend James (left) drove for over 7 hours yesterday, from Johnson City, TN, all the way to the District, simply to relieve our RC Cola situation. I figure 1,992 cans should hold us for awhile.
While fun and laughter are essential to the human spirit, sometimes it’s also important to pause to give situations the dignity and solemnity they deserve. James is an Iraq combat veteran who took time away from his family to help us. James: thank you for your service to this country.”

Olney, MD — September 29, 2026 — Olney Theatre Center, Maryland’s largest regional theatre, produces Boublil and Schönberg’s Les Misérables in the Roberts Mainstage (October 30, 2026 – January 31, 2027) in celebration of the musical’s 40th anniversary. This continues Olney Theatre’s tradition of providing popular musicals with multi-generational appeal to local audiences and visitors over the holiday season. This year, Tony Award-nominated director Stephen Brackett returns to direct the production, having last directed Cinco Paul’s critically acclaimed A.D. 16 at Olney in 2022. Trent Saunders, who garnered critical acclaim for his performance in the Broadway company of Dead Outlaw, stars as Jean Valjean, opposite Kevin S. “The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying a suspect who assaulted a woman in Northwest.
On Saturday, November 1, 2025, at approximately 12:25 a.m., the victim and their friends were exiting a train at the Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter Station in the 700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Northwest, when they were approached by a group of individuals who were making fun of their Halloween costumes. One of the individuals approached the victim from behind and struck them multiple times in the back of the head causing them to lose consciousness. (more…)
