Join Folger Shakespeare Library’s early music ensemble-in-residence to travel back in time to 17th-century Venice.

Folger Consort launches their 50th season with “Monteverdi’s Legacy,” a program of virtuosic music.

In the 1600s, under the guidance of composer and choirmaster Claudio Monteverdi, Venice became the celebrated home of early opera and chamber music. Don’t miss the delights of madrigals, sonatas, operatic excerpts and more by Monteverdi, his students, and admirers. Performances are September 11-13. Tickets at folger.edu

Fundraiser

“Dear PoPville,

Felicia is a local senior high school student, the president of her Student Government Association, and a recipient of the Stephen Joel Trachtenberg Scholarship, which awards a full ride at GWU to just ten DC high school students each year.

Now, with graduation so close, we are confronted with costly legal fees that threaten everything we’ve worked for. The uncertainty of standing before a judge, not knowing if I will be able to return home and walk across the stage with my peers, is overwhelming. (more…)
