The Logan Circle neighborhood is overridden with delivery trucks many of which do not follow proper street signage. Today a forty-two foot Sysco truck exiting the alley behind Pearl Dive, Rice and Ghibellina blocked traffic for twenty minutes. “Bei Bei, the 4-year-old giant panda, began his journey to China this morning. He departed the Smithsonian’s National Zoo at 9:30 a.m. for Dulles International Airport in northern Virginia where he boarded a dedicated FedEx 777F plane bound for Chengdu, China. The non-stop flight will take about 16 hours. Bei Bei’s departure from the Zoo was broadcast via Facebook Live, as was his departure from Dulles International Airport. (more…)

“Attorney General Karl A. Racine today announced a lawsuit against DoorDash, Inc., a food delivery service, for its practice of encouraging consumers to tip for food deliveries and then pocketing those tips instead of passing them along to workers. In its lawsuit, the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) alleges that DoorDash led consumers to believe that any tips would go directly to food delivery workers, while instead effectively treating this money as extra profit for the company. OAG is seeking to recover from DoorDash millions of dollars in tip money that consumers thought they were paying to workers, and to impose civil penalties. (more…)

DC Legendary Musicians, Inc. celebrates its 20th Anniversary with Spirit, Sanctuary, Silence & Sound, an evening honoring Washington, DC’s musical legacy, cultural memory, and community service. Founded in 2006 by Rev. Dr. Sandra Butler-Truesdale, DCLM has spent two decades recognizing the musicians, elders, artists, and cultural workers who helped shape DC’s sound.

The celebration will include music, recognition, community gathering, and a special tribute to the symbolic legacy of Ron McNair — astronaut, physicist, and saxophonist. The evening also marks the launch of renewed DCLM programming, including Second Sunday Sound, Silence & Sanctuary, the Annual Thanksgiving Drive, and the renewal of an Annual Health Fair connected to DC Legendary Musicians Way near 6th and T Street NW.
