If you spot a hawk or any interesting wildlife around town, lunching or otherwise, and get a good photo please send where you spotted it to [email protected] and I’ll add it to the queue. Hawks around Town is made possible by a generous grant from the Ben and Sylvia Gardner foundation.

I’m only a week late but better late than never (thanks to all who messaged!) Mark Lee broke the news on his Facebook:

“DC ABC Board approves licensing for gay nightclub Town to re-open at new location in a former church building at the corner of North Capitol and K Streets, rejecting ANC and protest group objections. Board grants extended operating hours (5AM Fri-Sat, 4AM Sun-Thurs) but limits use of outdoor space until 2AM.”

Meet Air Guitar! This survivor is as unique as his name – he fought his way back from catastrophic illness to get a 2nd chance – could it be with you? Air Guitar is about 8 years old, and despite his very difficult circumstances, is a loving and playful dude. Air Guitar can be a bit skittish in a new environment, but is blossoming in his foster home and starting to explore the world with more confidence! He will do well in a home where he receives LOTS of affection – he’s a real cuddle bug looking for the right person or family to adore. Find out more about Air Guitar’s story, and about adopting him, here.

Are you looking for a pup who sees every day as an adventure? Risa is the lady for you! This 2-year-old Shepherd / Sharpei mix is a high-energy daycare favorite. Risa is very smart, and will do best in a home with an experienced owner(s) who can give her the exercise, stimulation and socialization she needs. Risa *loves* other dogs and the dog park, and is very committed to her humans, but needs consistency and boundaries to channel that intelligence and energy. Risa will do best in a home with older children, where she is loved and cuddled…and exercised! If this fun girl sounds like a good fit for your home, find out more about adopting Risa here.
