Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

I’m just writing in about my experience with healthcare workers to see if anyone else has experienced this, as well. I went to get a blood test at labcorp and the phlebotomists at the front desk took her mask OFF to talk to me. Then last week, I went to my allergist to get some tests done and the doctor walked in with his mask below his mouth. Today, I went to CVS to pick up some meds, and the pharmacist had his mask below his chin the entire 20 min I was in line. (more…)

Ed. Note: Yesterday there were 12,398 total positives.

From the Mayor’s Office:

“The District’s reported data for Tuesday, August 4, 2020 includes 45 new positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall positive case total to 12,443.

The District reported no additional COVID-19 related deaths.

Tragically, 587 District residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19.

The community spread chart is subject to fluctuation because the data is based on symptom onset date. As national demand for testing increases and results take longer to come back in DC and across the country, DC Health has identified a need to increase the reporting lag time by four days to reduce volatility in the data. The most recent data reflects an increase in community spread. To ensure this graph accurately reflects the most recent data, the community spread count is being paused as these adjustments are made.” (more…)
