After tweeting earlier, DC Department of General Services replied “Thanks for the tag, we have forwarded this concern to our Facilities team to address.” to which OP replied:

“We have been told this repeatedly for over 9 months since we first attempted to report the issue. Can we actually get a maintenance ticket number for this? A timeline of when it can be fixed?”

I realize there are actually serious life and death issues happening these days. But, for the last nine months, we have been trying to get the city to fix the gates to the Swampoodle Dog Park because they no longer latch and swing open, allowing dogs to escape. “DDOT Sets August 17 Start for Car Free Lanes Construction on 7th Street NW and M Street SE”

“Today, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced that construction of Car Free Lanes on 7th Street NW and M Street SE will begin on August 17, weather permitting. The work is part of a year-long project to improve bus performance and safety throughout the District.

“We are advancing the Bowser Administration’s commitment to bolstering bus service in our city,” said DDOT Director Jeff Marootian. “These Car Free Lanes will not only increase bus travel speeds and reliability but will also help reinvigorate business and commuter activity in the downtown area.”

Car Free Lanes are part of DDOT’s Bus Priority Program, the Bowser Administration’s initiative to enhance bus service across all eight wards of the District.

“Long story short, a developer is threatening to block our only means of egress from the back of our building. Timber does not have access to the alley, so all deliveries, trash, and most importantly our fire escape all come from the back and then use this side sidewalk. The developer was not interested in coming up with an amicable solution, and instead told us to build a stairway over the top of the building.

This sidewalk has been there for decades and has always been used as a means of egress. I was hoping someone might have some good insight on how to stop this, so we can continue to operate safely and effectively!” (more…)

“The District’s reported data for Tuesday, August 11, 2020 includes 63 new positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall positive case total to 12,959.

The District reported no additional COVID-19 related deaths.

Tragically, 593 District residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19.

The community spread chart is subject to fluctuation because the data is based on symptom onset date. As national demand for testing increases and results take longer to come back in DC and across the country, DC Health has identified a need to increase the reporting lag time by four days to reduce volatility in the data. The most recent data reflects an increase in community spread. To ensure this graph accurately reflects the most recent data, the community spread count is being paused as these adjustments are made.” (more…)
