“On April 20, 2021, at approximately 03:43 AM Officers responded to Sounds of Gunshots at 16th and Varnum Street NW. A victim was located and reported being shot at while driving his vehicle on 16th Street. The victim was not injured however his vehicle sustained 5 bullet holes. The incident is being investigated by the Fourth District Detective’s Office.

EZ asks last night: “is there a weird mechanical sound emanating from h street which sounds vaguely like a computer fan but scaled up annoying anyone else (besides my husband and I)? Anyone?”

Matt replies: “heard it on a walk with the dog about an hour ago. seemed to be coming from the red building across from sherwood at 10th & g.”

and K: “I hear it (in Trinidad) along w/the usual traffic sounds & that ONE noisy hound that a neighbor walks 2 early that howls like he’s hunting … maybe it’s metro/ Amtrak echos”

“This evening at approximately 6:30 pm, a victim left their car running in the 1000 block of First Street SE while picking up food. An unknown suspect entered their vehicle and fled in an unknown direction.

The First District has seen an elevated level of car thefts–many of which involve cars that are left running or keys that are left in cars. Please always be aware of your surroundings and ensure that you turn off and lock your car even if only getting out for a moment.”

“This afternoon at approximately 4:55 pm, a victim left their car running while getting out to use an ATM. An unknown suspect entered their vehicle and fled in an unknown direction.”
