On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at approximately 4:42 p.m., multiple suspects approached the victims in the 3100 block of Hiatt Place, Northwest. The suspects assaulted the victims and struck one of the victims with a handgun. (more…)


Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

I’m reaching out because I’ve been caught in a pretty frustrating situation with Washington Gas, and I’m curious if anyone has ever dealt with something similar.

I moved into a one-bedroom apartment (~650 sqft) about a year ago. For the first 7 months, my monthly gas bill was in the $30–40 range, which matched what the previous tenant had paid (they lived here for five years and never saw a bill over $40). The tenant below me (who has a larger apartment) also tracks that range similarly. Based on my past apartments and shared housing situations, that seemed totally normal.

Then, out of nowhere, my January bill jumped to $600. After a few calls, (more…)

Dupont Circle

“Dear PoPville,

Last night I (38, F) was walking home through Dupont circle at about 8:50pm. As I approached the Northeast corner of the park, there was a man standing by a bench who slammed something (sounded like a brick or heavy rock) into the bench. It appeared that he was having a mental health episode or was in an altered state. I started walking more quickly and then began to run when I saw him winding up from about 25 feet away – he then threw the brick/rock at me and (more…)
