“Tango Pastry by Argentine Chef is opening its doors at 408 H Street Northeast to bring classic, Argentine-style baked goods and comfort food to the H Street Corridor.
Chef Katriel Menendez, from Cordoba, Argentina, brings 22 years of culinary experience and a passion for Argentine cuisine and culture to this venture. Having opened Tango Pastry by Argentine Chef in Alexandria, Virginia in 2022, and Tango Pastry Cafe in Vienna, Virginia in 2023, Chef Katriel is thrilled to bring scratch-made Argentine delicacies to the nation’s capital.
Tango Pastry’s menu includes many Argentine classics, such as:
Empanadas – Many of the empanadas, such as the beef “empanada mendocina,” highlight Chef Katriel’s family recipes.
Medialunas and Facturas (Pastries) – Soft and sweet Argentine-style pastries baked fresh daily and made from scratch.
Alfajores – Delicate shortbread cookie sandwiches filled with creamy dulce de leche and rolled in shredded coconut.
Traditional Sandwiches – From Choripan to Milanesa Sandwiches to Sandwiches de Miga, Tango Pastry has a variety of Argentine-style sandwiches filled with flavor.
In addition to these sweet and savory offerings, Tango Pastry has a thoughtfully crafted coffee menu, featuring coffee locally roasted by Southeastern Roastery.
Tango Pastry’s Grand Opening takes place on Sunday, April 13, 2025 from 10:00am – 5:00pm. The Grand Opening will include a meet-and-greet with Chef Katriel, guided tours, and a sampling of various menu items.
