WMATA shares: “Safety first! At Washington Dulles International Airport station, we’re testing a removable bollard in front of the escalator to encourage customers with large bags to use the elevator instead. The initiative is aimed at reducing trips and falls caused by bags on escalators and improving safety for everyone moving through the station.”
Great idea or terrible idea?
The first reaction seems to favor the latter:
“They will just hold everyone up, lifting the bag over the pole.”
Do you think it’ll work?

“Dear PoPville,
Do you know what the scoop is on the fate of the Rock Creek Tennis Center? I was playing there and learned that the management contract expired on Saturday 2/28 with no new contract in sight. This means that as of Sunday, March 1, all classes and clinics are canceled; coaches and contractors lose their jobs; and court access is suspended. At least that’s what the staff told me. They know nothing about what happens next. Do you?”

I live alone and pay $250-$350 a month since October 2025, (more…)

Ed. Note: Not the point, obviously, but did they really have to screw this into the tree…?
“Dear PoPville,
Here’s a pic of new signage on the block of G Street NW between 9th and 10th, home to the flagship MLK DC library. People sleep in front of the library at night but they clear out the front of the building in the morning. (more…)
At some point a lot of guys realize they don’t really have a friend group anymore.
Not in a dramatic way. Friends move away, people get busy, and actually seeing the same guys regularly almost never happens.
