“This incident happened Sunday at 4.55pm in Shaw. We were walking down S street toward 7th street when a guy emerged from the alley, walking at an odd pace and kind of spaced out (I assumed from the heat) and we let him pass us since we had both dog and stroller so we’re taking up real estate. Just as he passed us two young men crossed the street, and one of them pulled out a gun with an augmented clip. By the time we processed what was happening, the other guy had stopped so was now just behind us leaving us between him and the gun. Thankfully they two guys didn’t care that we were there and walked straight up to him and held the gun to his head, so we ran around the corner while calling the police and warning others not to turn the corner. Event

DC Legendary Musicians, Inc. celebrates its 20th Anniversary with Spirit, Sanctuary, Silence & Sound, an evening honoring Washington, DC’s musical legacy, cultural memory, and community service. Founded in 2006 by Rev. Dr. Sandra Butler-Truesdale, DCLM has spent two decades recognizing the musicians, elders, artists, and cultural workers who helped shape DC’s sound.

The celebration will include music, recognition, community gathering, and a special tribute to the symbolic legacy of Ron McNair — astronaut, physicist, and saxophonist. The evening also marks the launch of renewed DCLM programming, including Second Sunday Sound, Silence & Sanctuary, the Annual Thanksgiving Drive, and the renewal of an Annual Health Fair connected to DC Legendary Musicians Way near 6th and T Street NW.

A reader reported at 9:25am: “Active crime scene at stadium armory. Train is stopped and police in train interviewing ppl and taking photos. All cars are going wrong direction. Blood all over metro car apparently. My wife is there now. Police are photographing a gun on train.

“Update: There was a fight on the train. Upon entry by Metro Transit police they located a gun and have recovered it”.

Metrorail info reported at 9:30am: “UPDATED: Orange/Silver/Blue Line Delay: No longer single tracking. Residual delays continue in both directions due to an earlier a police investigation at Stadium-Armory.”
