Adams Morgan

“Dear PoPville,

I live in a co-op building in Adams Morgan that is across the street from a large apartment building. Last night I noticed a light flickering across the street and saw that there was a man masturbating in front of his window, facing my building. He turned the light off after 10-15 seconds and then back on 10-15 seconds later. He did this a few times. It was apparent to me that he was trying to get attention by doing this and that this was the point. This was not just incidental behavior I happened to see–it was intentional, nonconsensual, and creepy. He was watching my building the entire time. I feel very uncomfortable knowing I could be watched by this guy in my own home and that any children in my building could witness this or be the target of his behavior. (more…)

“To the bicyclist who got shoved by a driver at 11th and Florida NW this morning — I saw the whole thing and can provide a statement if you want to report it.

The bicyclist was heading south on 11th and merged over well before reaching the light so he could turn left on Florida. A driver in a light blue sedan, evidently fed up that the bicyclist was taking up the road, sped up behind him and started honking, even though they were approaching a red light at 11th and Florida.

As he waited at the light, the bicyclist turned around and said “what’s your problem? I’m turning left.” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Heard Howard announced at the civic meeting on Monday that they are closing the current hospital, moving it elsewhere on campus, and redeveloping the 3M sqft into private, non-academic use. Saw it on twitter from @EricFidler

Do you have any more news? Timelines?”

Thanks to Aaron for sending:

“I was going to drop in there on Friday after a birthday party, when I got there, they were closed before midnight. Sunday evening came, and they were still closed. It was odd. I went up to the door and they had a sign that said “Closed Gone Fishing”. I spoke with someone who works there that said they got closed down in a similar way as JRs with the liquor license expiring. I am told they closed on Wednesday and had been operating for some amount of time without a current liquor license. The person I spoke with said they may have to reapply for a liquor license from scratch because the amount of time that lapsed.” (more…)
