“Dear PoPville,
One of my daughter’s daycare teacher’s husband was detained by ICE this week. Sharing the family’s GoFundMe. This family has been such a pillar in our NW DC community the last five years and I want to show up for them in any way I can. Thank you.”
The GoFundMe says:
“Today, our family is going through one of the hardest times we could ever imagine. My husband, Ludwin Oliverio Ramírez, father of our daughters Sophia, Madeline, and Maya, was detained by ICE. Oliver has lived in this country for over 22 years. During all this time, he has worked tirelessly, contributed with dedication and love, and has been an active and supportive part of our community. 2901 Sherman Ave, NW
“Dear PoPville,
I’m curious if anyone knows what’s going on with Harvard Liquor at the corner of Harvard and Sherman Avenue in Columbia Heights. I’ve seen it change ownership several times over the past couple of decades but it’s always been fairly busy. For the past month or so it’s been either sporadically open or not open at all for days at a time.“
To celebrate DC native Haili Blassingame’s debut novel, THEY ALL FALL IN LOVE AT THE END, Lost City Books is throwing a launch party themed around messy love stories. Haili, and a crew of writers she has assembled, will read excerpts from their work, but there will also be audience participation in the form of anonymously submitting messy dating stories. It’s going to be a night of laughter, of gasps, of books, of great company. Refreshments will be available. We can’t wait to see you there!

15th and Q Street, NW
“Dear PoPville,
Another injury just now at the 15th Street Bike Lane, pot hole. Gentleman on a scooter with head injury and more. Passerby called 911 – he is being treated. It’s a lot of blood! The same spot! It is particularly bad for scooters because of their smaller wheels catch the edge. It’s been marked now (by citizens) but not repaired.”
