“Dear PoPville,

Any leads on where I could get potting soil either at curbside pickup or delivery for some house plants?”

Since gardening is a great, healthy, soul saving activity these days – I thought it’d be fun to share a bit of your color for those of us without green thumbs. Please email your garden photos (with garden in the title) to [email protected] Gardens can be big, small, balcony or even just a great plant you love in your house. Thanks!

And here’s an early garden haul too! (more…)

Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

I am looking for some guidance and help. I never realized I lived in an apartment with thin walls but now that everyone is home all day, it’s a reality I can’t escape.

My neighbors, a young couple, fight constantly. Not just the normal bickering that we all do with our significant others from time to time but full blown screaming, cursing, stomping matches. It’s daily. It’s hourly even. They both sound irate and they let each other know they are and it seems anything can set one off (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Gym

I thought we’d concluded our gym talk but after yesterday’s Washington Sports Club talk folks want to talk about Vida too. So here we are – thanks to Paul for sending the latest from Vida:

“To our VIDA Fitness Members,

Every day we are experiencing an unprecedented volume of twists & turns as our nation comes to grasp with the coronavirus pandemic. It’s vital that I continue to keep you abreast of what we are doing and provide you with the most accurate and up-to-date information.

In my original letter dated March 15th, I wrote to inform you that we voluntarily closed all VIDA locations from March 16th to March 31st. A few days after we voluntarily closed, Mayor Bowser mandated that all health clubs must remain closed through April 24th. Yesterday, the Mayor issued a Stay At Home Order. We are also dialed-in to the many briefings from Governor Northam and Governor Hogan. We expect things will continue to progress and find it unlikely that we’ll receive approval to reopen our doors before the end of May. (more…)

Fundraiser

Lots of folks have been asking how they can help out hospital workers – here’s a great, delicious way from Wiseguy’s GoFundMe:

“Wiseguy Pizza x Altani for Healthcare Workers

Making food is how we show our love, and we’ve fought this pandemic the best way we know how to–by helping to feed the people on the front lines. We were able to donate 101 18” pizzas (feeding 400+ people), 800 masks, and 7400 gloves in a single day to 6 area hospitals as well as other essential workers and those in need.

Then the calls started to roll into our store from people who wanted to help do the same. So we’re making a formal ask for you to contribute to helping us keep area healthcare workers fed and provided with a much-needed bit of cheer.

OUR PLAN (more…)
