Ed. Note: Yesterday there were 11,717 total positives.

From the Mayor’s Office:

“The District’s reported data for Saturday, July 25, 2020 includes 63 new positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall positive case total to 11,780.

The District reported no additional COVID-19 related deaths.

Tragically, 581 District residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19.

The community spread chart is subject to fluctuation because the data is based on symptom onset date. As national demand for testing increases and results take longer to come back in DC and across the country, DC Health has identified a need to increase the reporting lag time by four days to reduce volatility in the data. The most recent data reflects an increase in community spread. To ensure this graph accurately reflects the most recent data, the community spread count is being paused as these adjustments are made.” (more…)

Thanks to Mark for sending “from NoMa/Near Northeast. This is the first time I’ve grown trombetta squash. They are easy to grow and pretty pest resistant. If you pick them early they have the properties of a summer squash and if you let them stay on the vine they have the properties of a winter squash. The longest one measured 35”. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I noticed that the Paul bakery and Bluestone Lane on Wisconsin have closed. Both have windows papered over. Paul looks to be permanently closed considering the signage is gone – this happened a couple weeks ago. Bluestone looks to be temporarily closed based on the letter they posted – this happened in the last few days, I believe.” (more…)

300 Florida Ave, NW

Thanks to Stephanie, “I love the staff there and really appreciate all the details and quick response they provided to the public.”, for passing on the post from ANXO:

“Yesterday afternoon an employee at our Florida Avenue location tested positive for COVID-19. The employee is asymptomatic and continues to feel well but is at home in quarantine. We were planning on closing the Florida location yesterday due to weather anyway, so we announced that closure while attending to the important task at hand.

All of our employees and owners that work out of the Florida Avenue location reported immediately to testing sites. They have all been tested and are now in quarantine while awaiting their results. We care greatly about their well-being and are in frequent communication with them about their needs. So far, no one is showing symptoms. Our employees will be paid to stay home for as long as is needed to ensure safety for all. (more…)

Zenia is a pretty pooch who absolutely loves playing with other dogs for as long as she can! She gets along great with any and all dogs and needs an active home with another dog to be her best pal. Once she is all tired out, she is happy to chill out on the couch and give kisses and cuddles to her favorite people. Zenia also adores toys and makes the perfect companion and running partner! LK is a sweetheart who loves to play with toys and to cuddle up with her foster brother cats! She is learning the ways of the world and would welcome a cat buddy to show her the ropes — especially to help her get more confidence with people. LK loves scritches and will one day really enjoy some cuddles, she just needs a little time and patience. Columbia Heights

“Dear PoPville,

30 minutes ago [around 1:30pm] I was verbally assaulted by a man because I asked him to keep his distance on the sidewalk- he was not wearing a mask [in Meridian Hill/Malcolm X park.] He replied with “What did you say B*tch” and “I will kill you.” I was so scared that I started running. He started running after me. Then I turned around and said, “how dare you say that.” A young man man got in the middle and told him to calm down but I was so scared for my life, I was seeing tunnel vision that I sprinted off – to later collapsed and start crying. I want to report this first, to see if one of your readers was the young man with a dog that tried to stop the attack so that he could maybe help identify the crazy man. Second, to warn other women, to be aware no matter what neighborhood, and no matter what time of day. Anti maskers are among us and they are angry.”

Ed. Note: If you are the man with the dog please email me at [email protected] and I’ll put you in touch with OP.
