“Barkada, a new natural wine bar, owned and operated by Primrose’s Sebastian Zutant with long-time friends Anthony Aligo & Nick Guglietta, and Nathan Fisher, will open its doors on July 29, 2020 at 1939 12th Street NW, Washington DC.

Zutant, who currently owns and operates Primrose and previously worked at The Red Hen, Komi, Proof, and Rasika, partnered with the industry newcomers to build their dream wine bar. Barkada, a Filipino slang word meaning a group of friends, will have a unique list of over 60 natural wines from around the world and a food program featuring a selection of curated imports and local products. In addition to a range of cheese and charcuterie, Barkada will showcase tinned fish and seafood platters for the adventurous, along with light fare and sandwiches. I live in an apartment building in Dupont/Kalorama. Since April, my building management has communicated that I cannot recycle plastic, aluminum, or paper until further notice. I am not sure why our trash/recycling contractor is not accepting anything except cardboard – possibly due to covid, but still, why?

Sitting pretty in pink at the corner of 35th and O streets NW, Call Your Mother Georgetown is the bagel brand’s fourth location. The shop boasts 1100 square feet dressed in the original pink color from the building’s previous occupant, GreenWork Florals, and accented by Call Your Mother’s signature teal. (more…)
