“The District’s reported data for Sunday, August 2, 2020 includes 39 new positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall positive case total to 12,313.

The District reported no additional COVID-19 related deaths.

Tragically, 586 District residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19.

The community spread chart is subject to fluctuation because the data is based on symptom onset date. As national demand for testing increases and results take longer to come back in DC and across the country, DC Health has identified a need to increase the reporting lag time by four days to reduce volatility in the data. The most recent data reflects an increase in community spread. To ensure this graph accurately reflects the most recent data, the community spread count is being paused as these adjustments are made.” (more…)

DC Fire & EMS reported starting at 6:14pm: “Water rescue Potomac River vicinity Joint Base Bolling. Credible report of 3 people who fell from vessel and have not resurfaced. #DCsBravest Fireboats and other units + @DCPoliceDept Harbor Division conducting active search.”

at 8pm they reported: “Update Potomac River water rescue. Sadly, after an extensive water, land and air search for over 2 hours, this incident has transitioned to a recovery operation. 3 adult males remain missing. (more…)

“We wanted to let you know that our Tex-Mex breakfast taco up-start La Tejana is returning to Thamee (1320 H Street, NE) for a weekly pop-up as part of their Sunday Service. Each week, we’re offering pre-order/carryout only breakfast tacos with house-made hand-pressed flour tortillas (made with lard from a local black-owned farm) and are filled with classic breakfast taco staples such as migas, refried beans, potato egg and cheese, as well as a house-cured spicy chorizo.
