“We wanted to let you know that our Tex-Mex breakfast taco up-start La Tejana is returning to Thamee (1320 H Street, NE) for a weekly pop-up as part of their Sunday Service. Each week, we’re offering pre-order/carryout only breakfast tacos with house-made hand-pressed flour tortillas (made with lard from a local black-owned farm) and are filled with classic breakfast taco staples such as migas, refried beans, potato egg and cheese, as well as a house-cured spicy chorizo. We also offer limited amounts of chips and queso for carryout.
La Tejana is a new concept by McAllen/Rio Grande Valley native Ana-Maria Jaramillo and DC native Gus May. We started off with a couple pop-ups last fall (Room 11) and over the winter (3 Stars) before transitioning to offering homemade flour tortilla deliveries during the pandemic, which we’ve now abandoned (temporarily!) for the weekly pop-up at Thamee.”
