Readers started reported just after 11:30pm: “sounded like shots fired on 9th NW between N and O. Police here near BP gas station”

“Live right behind bp station, heard three shots, yelling/screaming, speeding cars, and cops showed up within 2-3 min. Police look like they are looking for casings and the area is yellow taped”

From MPD:

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 1300 block of 9th Street NW. An adult male has been transported to an area hospital with a critical gunshot wound to the torso. (more…)

Ed. Note: NPR reported: “Two pipe bombs left at the Republican National Committee and the Democratic National Committee were discovered by police and safely detonated, police said.

In a car on Capitol grounds, law enforcement found a drink cooler full of gasoline bombs and a long gun, Contee told reporters.

The FBI confirmed to NPR that the agency is involved in ongoing investigations and said, “two suspected explosive devices were rendered safe by the FBI and our law enforcement partners.”

“The FBI is seeking information that will assist in identifying individuals who are actively instigating violence in Washington, DC. The FBI is accepting tips and digital media depicting rioting and violence in the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6, 2021: fbi.gov/USCapitol

“Today, First Amendment protests turned violent. Many persons came to the District armed and for the purpose of engaging in violence and destruction and have engaged in violence and destruction. They have fired chemical irritants, bricks, bottles, and guns. They have breached the security of the Capitol and their destructive and riotous behavior has the potential to spread beyond the Capitol. Their motivation is ongoing. (more…)

DO NOT TAKE ACTION CALL 911″

Readers reported: “Heard 5 quick gunshots and now there is one person on the ground holding himself. Police responded within about 120 seconds, corner of 3rd and I.”

“I’ve called 911 but shots were fired by 300 K ST NW @DCPoliceDept. I believe an ambulance is needed. Witnessing from my apartment window. Heard the shots.” (more…)

“In light of an announced 6 p.m. citywide curfew in the District of Columbia, all Metrorail and Metrobus service will end earlier than normal today, Wednesday, January 6, in the interest of public safety. The rail system will close three hours early, at 8 p.m., and Metrobus service will end at 9 p.m.
