DC is growing fast. You can be a part of shaping its future.
DC 2050 is the District’s next comprehensive plan, which determines where housing, jobs, and amenities should be located across the District. The DC Office of Planning is working on a full rewrite of the comprehensive plan based on technical research, best practices, and the community’s vision for DC’s future.

DC 2050 is where these priorities are captured and turned into policies. This is the first full rewrite of DC’s comprehensive plan in over 20 years and your opportunity to share your priorities for how we grow for the next 25 years and beyond. No matter where you live in DC, if you rent or own, grew up here or came as an adult, your voice matters. Follow this project and get involved.
Your Voice Matters
When we kicked off this planning process in 2025, we committed to gathering feedback from DC residents, community organizations, and elected officials. From March 2025 to June 2026, we’ve reached over 6,600 people across all eight wards. We’ve also received thousands of comments across multiple online surveys.
If you have engaged with us, filled out our survey, or come to an event, thank you! We read every comment we receive and are working to incorporate the feedback into the draft plan.
Get Involved
We encourage you to share your input on DC’s future. There are lots of ways to stay up to date and get involved:

Attend an event, like our informal office hours at Tenley-Friendship Library on September 24, 3:30-5 pm.

Join veteran Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey clown Jim Dandy and award-winning burlesque performer Delilah Dentata for a daytime burlesque and variety party that celebrates the funniest, strangest, and most delightful performers they can find.
Over the years, we’ve welcomed burlesque, clown, live music, flow arts, drag, mime, pole, puppets, and a few things we still don’t quite know how to describe … and we're bringing you another unique cast to kick off the beginning of October.

“Metro will replace trains with shuttle buses between Pentagon City and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport over 10 select weekends from February through June. Crystal City will be closed to build a second entrance at the station as part of Arlington County’s Crystal City Sector plan. The new entrance will accommodate growing ridership at the station, support new development in the area, and play a key role in a broader effort to make Crystal City a walkable community.

I have never seen DC residents sink so low. DC is NOT Boston or Philly.
