DC 2050 is the District’s next comprehensive plan, which determines where housing, jobs, and amenities should be located across the District. The DC Office of Planning is working on a full rewrite of the comprehensive plan based on technical research, best practices, and the community’s vision for DC’s future.

DC 2050 is where these priorities are captured and turned into policies. This is the first full rewrite of DC’s comprehensive plan in over 20 years and your opportunity to share your priorities for how we grow for the next 25 years and beyond. No matter where you live in DC, if you rent or own, grew up here or came as an adult, your voice matters. Follow this project and get involved.
Your Voice Matters
When we kicked off this planning process in 2025, we committed to gathering feedback from DC residents, community organizations, and elected officials. From March 2025 to June 2026, we’ve reached over 6,600 people across all eight wards. We’ve also received thousands of comments across multiple online surveys.
If you have engaged with us, filled out our survey, or come to an event, thank you! We read every comment we receive and are working to incorporate the feedback into the draft plan.
