I was losing my mind but read about it in one of our rant/revels. Oak mite bites are truly truly awful. The Post reported:

“The incessant, shrieking sounds of cicadas may no longer be afflicting the Washington region, but experts say the insects may be bringing a new nuisance — oak leaf itch mites. And they bite.

These microscopic mites are feeding on the billions of cicada eggs produced across the D.C. region and dropping out of trees. If you happen to be under or near these oak trees, those mites may land on you and bite.”

Event

Join veteran Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey clown Jim Dandy and award-winning burlesque performer Delilah Dentata for Yolks on You, a brunch-time romp that celebrates the funniest, strangest, and most delightful variety performers they can find.

Over the years, we’ve welcomed burlesque, clown, live music, flow arts, drag, mime, pole, puppets, and a few things we still don’t quite know how to describe … and we’re doing it all again in May!

From Tap99:

“”99 bottles of beer on the wall” may be an age old saying, but for 24-year-old Jason Cherry, it is the inspiration for 99 self-pour taps in Tap99, a new self-pour taphouse and restaurant located directly across the street from the Nationals Park main gates.

Tap99 will open the week of August 9th, Tap99 will be the first fully self-pour taphouse in Washington D.C. The 2,800 square foot concept will include 99 self-pour taps offering beer, wine, ciders, and pre- mixed cocktails, with options being constantly rotated with new, seasonal selections from local craft breweries and distributors. The location will have 98 seats and will have an outdoor patio with seating as well. Tap99’s kitchen will focus on artisan pizzas made in a handcrafted Marra Forni brick oven, in addition to other small and shareable plates that include maple buffalo shrimp and tuna poke nachos. Fundraiser

4128 Georgia Ave, NW

From GoFundMe:

“Sandra Cabrera and her husband Jose Orellana are the owners of Pupuseria Miraflores located at 4128 Georgia Ave NW, Washington, DC 20011. On Sunday, July 25, they lost their son to a vehicle accident in DC.

Since they operate their business alone and have no other employees, they have temporarily closed the restaurant as they grieve and make funeral arrangements.

We are assisting Sandra and Jose with this GoFundMe to help them with funeral and incidental expenses in this time of need. We are grateful for any contributions you can make.”
