The NIMBYs are out in full force against 18th Street Lounge. From 10th Street, NW near Blagden — what fresh hell is this? It would make me laugh if it wasn’t so troublingly alarmist.”
Ed. Note: Back in June we learned that Eighteenth Street Lounge (ESL) had signed a lease for its new location in Blagden Alley.
Thanks to Julia for passing on from Cotton & Reed (1330 5th Street, NE):

The DC Chocolate Festival is an annual celebration of all things chocolate, bringing together artisans, educators, and chocolate lovers for a weekend of tastings, workshops, and community engagement. The festival is dedicated to promoting quality chocolate, sustainability in cacao farming, and education on the craft of chocolate making.
This year’s schedule includes a Friday evening session featuring a special presentation from the Heirloom Cacao Preservation Fund, honoring farmers who grow designated heirloom quality cacao. A tasting of chocolate made from these special beans will follow the presentation. On Saturday, our two classic sessions feature samples and shopping for chocolate from all over the world. Attendees can also attend a full roster of classes Saturday including guided tastings and talks on chocolate topics including genetics, history, and sustainability. We have our first class specifically for children on Saturday morning featuring kid friendly chocolate history and a hand’s on craft!
You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. But please no personal attacks and no need to correct people’s grammar. This is a place to vent and/or celebrate things about daily life in D.C.

Saturday (8/14) just before 7pm at Meridian Hill Park. I was sitting in the grass with my husky, wearing sunglasses, black pants and a salmon colored shirt. You walked by with your dog (tan colored, fluffy tail that curled over his back) and gave me a little wave. You were wearing your hat backwards, a drawstring backpack and a blue t-shirt. You looked super cute but you were too far away for me to say hi. If you’re reading this I’d love to get that chance!”
