ala will be briefly closing their Washington DC location for renovations beginning Thursday, January 8. The Levantine restaurant first opened in March 2021 in a space that, until now, has not been majorly renovated since 1998. Given all of the uncertainty in the city, ala wants to commit and invest in the community by updating their location to reflect what DC deserves, a bright welcoming space that brings people together. Event

The DC Concert Orchestra presents Portraits in Time, the last concert in our season themed A World Mosaic. The concert runs approximately 90 minutes with one 15 minute intermission. DCCO commissioned a new work by DC composer Blair Goins. There will be interactive discussions with the composer Blair Goins at performance time and after the concert. Please join us afterwards to learn more about this exciting new work and the composer.

“Dear PoPville,

My partner, a very meticulous person, had an odd thing happen over the holidays and it sounds like a scam. He parked in the parking garage under the Columbia Heights Target. When he went to exit the garage a short time later he put his ticket in the machine and it said the ticket was unable to be read. The staff person at the exit took the ticket and later came back to say the plate number on the ticket didn’t match the license plate of our car and she asked my partner to follow her to the parking office.
