“The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is deeply saddened to announce the line of duty death of Officer Terry Bennett after he was struck by a vehicle while assisting a motorist on I-695.

On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at approximately 10:10 p.m., Officer Bennett was assisting a motorist who ran out of gas in the eastbound lanes of I-695 near South Capitol Street. Officer Bennett was struck by a secondary motorist at a high rate of speed. Fellow officers immediately began rendering care and Bennett was transported to a local hospital. Officer Bennett succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. (more…)

Pop Star Playbook is an inclusive, six-week, high-energy singing and dancing class created for adults and teens (18+) with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Participants pick their favorite pop artists — Britney, Taylor, BTS, whoever they’ve been belting out in the car — and spend six Wednesdays working on songs, choreography, and stage presence with ArtStream’s teaching artists. Every skill level is welcome, and the class is built so every learner feels supported and celebrated. Sing or dance or both!

When: 6 Wednesdays, May 20 – June 24, 2026, 7:30–9:00 PM
Where: Edlavitch DC Jewish Community Center, 1529 16th St NW, near Dupont Circle Metro.
Who: Autistic adults and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, 18+, all experience levels welcome
Partial and full scholarships are available, and anyone who signs up with a friend gets 50% off using code FRIEND.

Logan Circle Main Street, in partnership with K-Bird, Barrel House Cafe & Bar, and Emily of LOVERS Plant Studio & Wares, is excited to announce the launch of the Logan Circle Creative Market, a new monthly outdoor market designed to bring together local artists, makers, small businesses, and neighbors in the heart of the Logan Circle community.
The first market will be May 3, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM along P Street and Rhode Island Avenue NW, including the exterior of K-Bird and the northern exterior of Barrel House Cafe & Bar.

“ala will be briefly closing their Washington DC location for renovations beginning Thursday, January 8. The Levantine restaurant first opened in March 2021 in a space that, until now, has not been majorly renovated since 1998. Given all of the uncertainty in the city, ala wants to commit and invest in the community by updating their location to reflect what DC deserves, a bright welcoming space that brings people together.
