Not a lot to go on but a reader hears that a Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana is coming to D.C. “They have already secured a location. Do you have any additional info?”
Anyone else hearing these rumors? Any idea what neighborhood?

Thanks to a reader for sending this rendering they found for 700 H Street, NE. First I’m hearing of this so not sure if this is still planned. The lettering is kind of small – does it look like it says delivering in 2017? Of course those dates often change but there is also a Shake Shack not too far away in Union Station. I’ll be sure to update if we learn more, STAY TUNED.

“I was going to drop in there on Friday after a birthday party, when I got there, they were closed before midnight. Sunday evening came, and they were still closed. It was odd. I went up to the door and they had a sign that said “Closed Gone Fishing”. I spoke with someone who works there that said they got closed down in a similar way as JRs with the liquor license expiring. I am told they closed on Wednesday and had been operating for some amount of time without a current liquor license. The person I spoke with said they may have to reapply for a liquor license from scratch because the amount of time that lapsed.” (more…)

Last week I shared some scuttlebutt about the delicious RAR Brewing folks opening up a spot in Navy Yard. And while I don’t have official confirmation at this time – I’m 99% sure it’s happening. (more…)
Back in February 2016 I officially proclaimed RAR’s Naticoke Nectar the best beer I’d been drinking. I still love it. And I still love almost everything they put out – especially their one offs. Ed. Note: Nanny O’Briens usually has the rare stuff on tap. Anyway, let’s get right to it, I don’t have a lot here but a very good source tells me that RAR Brewing has signed a lease in Navy Yard – not sure if it’s gonna be a brewpub/taproom or what not but if they are coming – this is very good news indeed! Stay tuned.
In the meantime – Navy Yard is becoming quite the beer hub with Gordon Biersch, Bardo, Bluejacket and Atlas coming too.

My boyfriend and I ate at Thai Chili near Capital One Arena before the Caps game on October 5. We’ve eaten there sporadically before games, so the wait staff knows us. When we were there, one of the servers told us that this was their last year there and that when hockey season ended (the regular season ends in April; hopefully they’ll be playing into June), they would be leaving. Update from Rock and Roll Hotel: “December and January are notoriously slow. We have national acts confirmed that cannot yet be announced. Not sure where this rumor is coming from, but it is false and they are misinformed.
NYE 2020 goes on sale at Noon Today which was already scheduled. Our normal programming of rooftop open and 2nd floor DJs are all in place.”
As of 12:10pm they just added to their calendar:

OK, I’m not saying it’s time to freak out right now but I’m not saying stay perfectly calm either. Because this is odd. I got a tip that Rock and Roll Hotel could be closing by the end of the year. The tipster has a very good record but was only 50/50 on this. So keep that in mind. At any rate back in 2013 we first noted that the building was listed for sale. I hadn’t heard much since then.
