Greg sends last night from “Petworth. Right on the stop sign!”

*If you spot a hawk or any interesting wildlife and get a good photo please send in an email where you spotted it to [email protected]. Thanks! Hawks around Town is made possible by a generous grant from the Ben and Sylvia Gardner foundation.

Yesterday Dianne shared her great owl photo from Chevy Chase and of course last week we saw the great shot from Heather at a Home Depot. Turns out these are boom times for owls.

From the Neighborhood Restaurant Group:

“I wanted to let you know we’ve partnered with Matt Adler to develop the 65-seat stand-alone restaurant that will open adjacent to The Roost. Caruso’s Grocery will be modeled after the classic, Italian-American “red sauce” joint; it’s very important to Matt and us as a team to not reinvent the wheel with this concept, but instead to focus on making the best possible versions of classic Italian-American dishes. From the Neighborhood Restaurant Group:

“Shelter will be one of two bars in the 12,500 SF space (the other, of course, being Show of Hands). It will have many of the key design elements that one would expect from a Greg Engert beer bar: a large number of taps (50 to be exact), a temperature-controlled system, rigorous line cleaning, and extensive glassware – all important elements that ensure the beers we’re serving taste exactly as they would if the guest were to enjoy them at the brewery from which they came. With near frenetic-rotation, Greg plans to pour close to 1,000 different beers annually on draft. Read More
