RIP

In that spirit DC9 is bringing back to life the much lauded Palena Burger!

It’s been five years since the acclaimed Palena closed its doors and the beloved burger graced the tables of DC dinners, and we miss it. Amber Bursik, chef at DC9, whom cooked at Palena for several years and cooked many of those Palena burgers herself thought this was the way she and DC9 could spread some holiday cheer to their guests. Thanks to Steve for sending:

“Saw a new Bank of America branch location open at Union Station today. It’s unattended. You get in with a card (my ATM card from another bank worked). Once inside, there’s just a few ATMs and booths to video chat with someone somewhere. Kind of weird.”

Event

DC Legendary Musicians, Inc. celebrates its 20th Anniversary with Spirit, Sanctuary, Silence & Sound, an evening honoring Washington, DC’s musical legacy, cultural memory, and community service. Founded in 2006 by Rev. Dr. Sandra Butler-Truesdale, DCLM has spent two decades recognizing the musicians, elders, artists, and cultural workers who helped shape DC’s sound.

The celebration will include music, recognition, community gathering, and a special tribute to the symbolic legacy of Ron McNair — astronaut, physicist, and saxophonist. The evening also marks the launch of renewed DCLM programming, including Second Sunday Sound, Silence & Sanctuary, the Annual Thanksgiving Drive, and the renewal of an Annual Health Fair connected to DC Legendary Musicians Way near 6th and T Street NW.

Update: And saw the news today Sam Hunt was arrested for a DUI yesterday. A weird tribute?”

I think the answer is pretty clear – a current day: (more…)
