Hi there! I’m Night, a 14 year old sweet lady with the personality of a kitten. I warm up to new people quickly and love any lap to cuddle in. I love to jump to high surfaces, play with cat toys, and chow down on wet food (it’s my favorite). I like to snuggle up while you’re watching tv or cuddle in bed at night. I won’t bother you but I will let you know if I’m hungry! I’m very tiny but have a huge appetite. I can’t wait to have a forever home with a loving owner. If you would like to meet me, please contact my foster at [email protected] to schedule a visit. As an added bonus, if you’re over 50, my adoption fee is waived as part of Humane Rescue Alliance’s Boomer’s Buddies program! Standard adoption procedures apply. Get more info here.

I’m Goonie! I’m a 40 lb bundle of energy. I like to play, and all I want to do is be by your side. I love car rides, getting my fur brushed, and anything that tastes like meat! Sometimes I like my space, but I could be your hiking buddy too. I’m not allowed upstairs, and sometimes I like to jump over the barrier, but it’s all love! I do really well in my crate, but I’m working on house training. I love learning new commands, and I’ve got “sit” and “wait” down. If you’re interested in me, email my foster [email protected]. Get more info here!

Event

Haili, and a crew of writers she has assembled, will read excerpts from their work, but there will also be audience participation in the form of anonymously submitting messy dating stories. It’s going to be a night of laughter, of gasps, of books, of great company. Refreshments will be available. We can’t wait to see you there!

Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

Sad to say that I saw the 2 $10s for a $20 scam in action on the platform at Union Station today. I was about 15 feet away and on an important call and wasn’t 100% sure I had correctly recalled this as a scam so I didn’t intervene.

Only when the tricked guy and I both got on the train did I think to google “PoPville $20” – and sure enough, it pulled up the picture of the guy and his walker. It’s done so, so adeptly – and the man really does appear disabled and in-need – that I frankly doubted my own memory and hesitated on intervening. I showed the scammed guy the picture. He actually reacted pretty graciously (“Well I hope he needed it more than I do.”).”

Petworth

821 Upshur Street, NW

The Washington Post reported the awfulness that’s been happening at Taqueria Del Barrio:

“D.C. police are investigating after a restaurant owner in Petworth reported receiving dozens of phone calls, some threatening to “kill the staff,” which the owner believes are tied to a monthly drag queen brunch and a separate drag trivia night.

Most of the comments were homophobic in nature, Bran-Leis said, noting that her staff members are nearly all part of the LGBTQ community. She said the calls came from four different phones with different voices, some of whom said “they were going to burn down the restaurant and kill the staff.”

As we showered Comet Ping Pong with love in their time of need, I say we do the same for Taqueria Del Barrio. Let us show them the power of love. Have a look at their menu here and plan a visit soon!
