“Ramadan Mubarak PoPville,
Are there any local Tarawih prayer groups taking place virtually? Also, any local restaurants serving iftar meals? Missing Ammu’s samosas and piyaju already.”
Ed. Note: I saw Eerkin’s offering some Ifftar meal boxes to go (above) in Glover Park (more…)

17th and Corcoran Street, NW
“Dear PoPville,
Do you know why there have been two soldiers and DC police outside Safeway on 17th Street NW past couple of days?”
Ed. Note: We’ve noted a National Guard presence at some NPS run parks but this is the first report we’ve gotten from outside a business. I’m guessing they are just helping police enforce the ‘you must wear a mask’ before entering a grocery store rule. Anyone else see the National Guard posted at spots besides parks?

Ed. Note: Ah, it must be snakes falling out of the sky season.
Thanks to T. for sending from 16th Street Heights: “I was clearing the weeds that grew all the way to the garage roof and saw this snake. hopefully, someone can identify what kind it is. I’m also hoping this is as big as it’ll get and it’s not just a baby with big mama slithering around.”

A reader reported around 2:20pm Sunday: “Just heard 5 shots in Eckington near summit place NE and Rhode island. Wasn’t outside to pinpoint but in case you get others messaging – it was definitely 5 quick shots. Sounds like it came from the street and not great aim hitting some parked cars.”
