Mayor Muriel Bowser issued the following statement on the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg:

“We have lost a champion of justice, an icon and patriot, a woman who lived the concept of building a more perfect union. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg fought for us until the very end, and it is that fighting spirit – that we were fortunate as a nation to benefit from time and time again – that made us love, respect, and admire her. Tonight, we are heartbroken. We are grateful for one life lived so fiercely that it forever changed the lives of millions. We send our condolences to Justice Ginsburg’s family and loved ones and to a nation already in mourning, trying once again to fathom a monumental and devastating loss.”

The highly anticipated restaurant, located at 1300 4th Street, SE in The Bower in Navy Yard, promises a fresh take on classic Puerto Rican cuisine. An all-day, “fast-fine” restaurant, La Famosa, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner while offering an extensive coffee program and full bar of tropical-inspired drinks. The brainchild of Chef Joancarlo Parkhurst, La Famosa is a nod to the Caribbean island where he was born. Meaning ‘The Famous One’, La Famosa is the name of the Puerto Rican canning food company which Parkhurst’s family founded in 1921.

Update: “Since opening on Monday, the overwhelming support for La Famosa has been truly amazing, and our team is so appreciative of the community! AdoPtville is run by two volunteers who compile these pets weekly from local shelters.

Smokey is affectionate and social. He’s 15 and half years old! Don’t be fooled by his grizzled look; he’s an absolute lover. He immediately felt comfortable in his foster home. He’s a good eater, medium energy level, and the definition of low maintenance.
