Helicopters

Ari wrote around midnight: “massive police chase just ended in front of my apartment @ 5th and NY Ave NW. Helicopter too. Cops swarmed the van they were chasing with guns drawn.”

LNWC writes: “As far as the “what’s that helicopter doing?” game goes, that’s a new one.”

The always listening Alan Henney reports: “HIGH-SPEED CHASE FROM ANNE ARUNDEL CO into PG and DC. Suspect reportedly had 25kilos of meth wanted by DEA, led police on a chase at 100+ m.p.h. He dumped contraband in Mt. Rainier and has been stopped at 5th St and NY Ave NW-DC. Eagle overhead”

Brookland

“Dear PoPville,

1) My husband and I live in a single family home in Brookland. Our house is a classic early 1900s bungalow. We looked at adding a dormer to the back of the top floor of the house to add room for an extra bedroom and bathroom. Long story short it was a little outside of our current budget. Now we have started toying around with the idea of an ADU (“accessory dwelling unit” aka tiny house) or even revamping an Airstream to park in our driveway with the hope that my husband can use it as an office thus freeing up an extra bedroom. I know the city changed the regulations regarding ADUs back in 2016, has anyone had any experience with ADUs? Curious to hear if this is even feasible.

2) We had a very unpleasant surprise last week (more…)

Event

Join veteran Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey clown Jim Dandy and award-winning burlesque performer Delilah Dentata for Yolks on You, a brunch-time romp that celebrates the funniest, strangest, and most delightful variety performers they can find.

Over the years, we’ve welcomed burlesque, clown, live music, flow arts, drag, mime, pole, puppets, and a few things we still don’t quite know how to describe … and we’re doing it all again in May!

All hail the Queen! Beyoncé (Queen B) is the most perfect gracefully aging diva around. Unlike her namesake, this Beyoncé has slowed in her old age but she still enjoys leisurely strolls and sniffs. Beyoncé does very well with other dogs and kids; she is housetrained, and has recently had diagnostic and dental work completed by the rescue organization, so she’s in great shape to join her forever family! Beyoncé is a great cuddler and loves a good wiggle on a fluffy carpet. This Queen is ready to find her perfect palace and family! Find out more about adopting Beyoncé here: Beyonce at GrayFaceAcres

Meet Langston! This handsome, 1 ½-year old fellow was found as a stray, struggling to get around. Langston has moderate CHF (also known as Wobbly Cat Syndrome). He deals with it well and it never stops him from greeting new friends! Langston loves to play with his toys, but his favorite activity is snuggling and cuddling with his people! He is a real love bug for sure. Langston’s illness, while neither painful nor progressive, means he cannot be in a home with stairs, other cats or dogs. He is truly people friendly, so should get along with just about anyone, including children. Loving Langston is in the market for a special forever home – could it be yours? Before moving to its current location in Bethesda, Maryland, Walter Reed Army Medical Center occupied this massive 113 acre campus from 1909 to 2011. During its 102 years, it grew from 80 beds to 5500 rooms while serving tens of thousands of wounded troops and veterans from WWI to Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. Many presidents were treated at this hospital including President Eisenhower who died here. (more…)

Dating

“Dear PoPville,

Can you help me find Cody? Last Sunday, 10/4, I was at Meridian Hill Park and noticed a cute guy packing up his hammock. I thought he left a hammock strap behind, so I chased him down and introduced myself, but I chickened out on asking him for his number before he biked away!

Cody, if you see this, let’s meet in the same spot for a hammock date on Friday, October 9 at 6pm!

OK Meridian Hill/Malcolm X missed connections are closed until next month :)

Ed. Note: If this is you, please email [email protected] so I can put you in touch with OP. PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about past missed connections, some have been made and when possible I’ll try to update when/if more are made.
