Fundraiser

From the 9:30 Club:

“Every 9/30 Day, the 9:30 Club takes a moment to celebrate the fans who come through its doors in record numbers, celebrating the communal role music plays in bringing everyone together. This year, the 9:30 Club is partnering with So Others Might Eat (SOME) as they face critical food shortages while residents and businesses band together to “Free DC”, working together to “Protect Home Rule and achieve self-governance for our community.”

To help, the 9:30 Club will be hosting a food drive and raffle this 9/30 Day, September 30, from 10 am to 7 pm, to accept non-perishable donations from SOME’s wishlist (see below), while also celebrating the relaunch of its limited edition “2:02” t-shirts, with all proceeds going to the Free DC project. Council

From a press release:

“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the people of Ward 1 and the District for the past 11 years as Councilmember, and before that as Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner. I have made the very difficult decision not to seek a fourth term as Councilmember. I have always believed that these positions should not be lifetime appointments. That those in leadership should cultivate others to carry on the work. It’s not easy to step away, especially at such a difficult time for our community and our country. But I do believe that it is the right time for me, for my family, and for Ward 1.

This will be the first time in 43 years that Ward 1 has had an open seat, (more…)
