“Dear PoPville,

On Sunday, Oct 5th, around 12:30ish pm, I was driving up 9th Street and after crossing over U st, a bicyclist veered out of the protected bike path, into the traffic lane and collided right into my front passenger side car door. I have no idea what they were trying to do, and after pulling over to check on them, I am glad they are ok and we exchanged a few words before their rode off. At first the car seemed to be ok (more…)

Logan Circle

“Dear PoPville,

Please frequently visit Logan Circle and let dogs off leash. But since the national guard showed up, everyone has been very apprehensive about allowing your dog off leash given national parks’ rules, which govern and dictate that dogs must be on leash (see picture). I approached six national guard today and they could confirm that the scope of their mission does NOT include the patrolling dogs on or off leash.

1725 Rhode Island Ave, NW photo by Josh Bassett

“Dear PoPville,

Wondering if you have any info on this…Rhode Island Ave, between 17th St and Connecticut Ave, was completely shut down Sunday morning. This is the same block as St. Matthews Cathedral. Tons of yellow police tape blocking the entire street, cop cars, 2 firetrucks, a couple ambulances. Police standing around the intersections. They couldn’t say what it was about. Unclear if there was a crime or if there was a VIP around.”

From MPD:

“Shortly before 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2025, Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) members assigned to a detail for the Red Mass at Saint Matthew’s Cathedral engaged an individual who set up a tent on the steps of the Cathedral. Officers determined that the individual was previously barred from the premises of the Cathedral. The individual refused to vacate the premises and was placed under arrest without incident.

During the arrest officers observed multiple suspicious items, (more…)
