Bars

“Dear PoPville,

One of my bosses is leaving. My other boss wants to find an outdoor bar, with dancing, somewhere near a metro for the farewell (with all vaccinated people). Yes, this is a difficult ask. Also yes, this will be an incredibly awkward bar hang. Can your readers help me identify some places that won’t make me cringe too much?”

“Dear PoPville,

The pandemic has been hard on all of us and our bodies. I want to work out again, but I am so out of shape after being locked inside for a year and a half. Are there any DC gyms or work out classes that are aimed at helping people get back into it after being vaccinated?”

“Dear PoPville,

I was standing on the corner of 16th and Irving St, NW waiting to cross the street and a very fit, very shirtless runner made devastating eye contact as he passed me by. I swear he slowed down just a little bit. Would love to exchange tips on preferred running routes etc. etc.”

Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

Just wanted to send out a quick alert/heads up to readers: I live in a multi-unit Condo building in NW DC (across from Malcom X Park) and all of our front doors have direct access to the outside. This morning (7/9) our neighbor text us to say someone claiming they were from the Washington Gas Company knocked on her door to say there was a gas leak in the building.

None of our other neighbors got a knock on their door from the gas company and the neighbor who did get the alert wasn’t asked to evacuate. (more…)

gardening

Thanks to mv for sending: “A great garden haul of tomatoes (jasper, sungold, sungreen, tigerella, speckled Roman, Cherokee purple, bhn871, and granadero varieties), as well as platinum cucumbers, cucamelons, squash, squash blossoms, red ember peppers, islander bell peppers, and calliope eggplants. All grown near the H Street corridor.”

As the season progresses please send your great garden hauls via email to [email protected] with Garden Haul in the subject line and let me know what you’ve grown and what neighborhood you are in. Cheers, thanks and happy gardening! Great Garden Haul is made possible, ironically, by the Friends of the White Whale Society.
