The liquor license placard for Ben Tre says:
“A neighborhood restaurant serving Vietnamese cuisine. Seating capacity of 20 inside. Total Occupancy Load of 20. Sidewalk Café with 6 seats.”
Ben Tre opened up in the former Yamas (and various shawarma spots) space back in August. Props on proper sign! Any fans of the pho?

A reader reports:
“I stopped by Vietnamese Chelsea at Park Rd and 14th St in Columbia Heights this weekend. They have a 20% off promotion to celebrate their grand opening. The fried spring rolls were fatter than Pho 14 and the pho beef broth was more gingery. Everything was very good. Really nice staff, too. I recommend giving it a try.”
Check out the menu after the jump. (more…)

Thanks to a reader for the Vietnamese Chelsea update:
“Walked by tonight (Saturday) and looked in the window. Looks close to opening! At Park Rd and 14th NW.”

Thanks to Tucker for sending: “pho 14 finally has alcohol. Look at that legit local beer list!!”

Pho DC opened up back in 2012 with a great happy hour and great deli downstairs.
1360 H Street, NE
It appears that the Pho Bar and Grill on H Street, NE (1360 H Street) is closed. Sign says for renovation and training, but I think it’s been dark for at least a week now. We’ll see if they return. Not the best food but adequate. Hopefully it will return much better! H Street needs some good Pho!”
I feel like that sign has been up for at least a couple of months! We judged them back in Dec. 2012 (they opened in Oct. 2011.) Their facebook page hasn’t been updated since July and a call to the restaurant goes to a full mailbox. Updates when they become available.
1639 Wisconsin Avenue, NW
A few weeks ago we learned that a new Pho option was coming to Georgetown. Pho Viet and Grille is now open in the former Bookhill Bistro space at 1639 Wisconsin Avenue, NW. The space looks great and you can order for take out and delivery too (202) 333-0009 (two mile delivery radius.) Hours are 11am-10pm daily.

Pizza-Iole opened up next to Frager’s in late 2011. I stopped by last weekend and see they’ve added (a few months ago) a Pho option with a space called Vietnamese Corner. Pho and Pizza seem an odd combination but they both do have cult followings, so who knows maybe it’ll work.
Anyone try the Pho yet?
