Fundraiser

“Dear PoPville,

My neighbors’ twin boys do an annual toy-drive for children’s national. Several years ago Savi battled leukemia and both he and his brother know the generosity of strangers during holiday season as people made sure both Savi AND Marcel received gifts as they celebrated the holidays in the hospital. In the years since, they collect gifts for about six weeks and ensure that every single pediatric cancer patient AND THEIR SIBLINGS can have a festive holiday with gifts, even if they’re cooped up in the hospital. Last year they collected so many that they had to ask a moving company to help them deliver.”

You can give them your support here.

“Dear PoPville,

On Wednesday evening after the shooting, Marine 1 probably buzzed my building in Woodley Park like 20 times and now they’re doing it again (Friday night), just an east-west route and then turning around and doing it again.

I can tell that they get as far east at Columbia Heights, then they must turn around somewhere. (more…)

Bars

1825 M Street, NW

Update from the broker: “We are exploring options throughout Dupont right now that we think the existing ATP will appreciate that have the ability to launch a solid food menu and continue to be a neighborhood soccer and sports destination, but we haven’t made any decisions on the space yet.

Will definitely be before the World Cup!”

Wowza. OK the tipsters have come through with Across the Pond/Sign of the Whale news.

Yesterday we broke the news that Across the Pond had closed on Connecticut Ave but would likely be moving somewhere in the neighborhood. After earlier posting that the Sign of the Whale‘s business license had been canceled an ANC rep teased us, “You came close to solving this today” after previously telling us “Another bar in the neighborhood is planning to relocate there after doing some renovations. I don’t think it’s public yet so I’ll hold off on revealing which one.”

Other tipsters came through with the goods (more…)
