“Two spicy Mexican chocolate muffin tops with Trickling Springs organic vanilla bean ice cream “sandwiched” between them.”

All of Uprising’s Muffins have 10 ingredients or less. One of those ten in the “El Diabo” is Cayenne Pepper that is mixed into the chocolate batter giving it a little bit of heat, with the vanilla ice cream to cool!

The El Diablo is here through summer as well as the original Upwich: chocolate chip muffin tops with vanilla ice cream.”

Alta Strada, Michael Schlow’s recently opened Italian restaurant in City Vista, debuted its lunch service on Monday, May 2. The lunch menu features several new items, such as the “kitchen sink” chopped salad with gorgonzola, chicken, salumi, radish, tomato and cucumber with a red wine vinaigrette, and a selection of sandwiches including the Sicilian tuna with spicy cauliflower, pine nuts and caper aioli, and a crunchy eggplant parm sandwich. Lunch sized portions of the restaurant’s signature pastas are also available, as well as a selection of pizzas such as the Margherita and a special seasonal pie with spring ramps, asparagus and organic egg. Lunch is available Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please find the full menu here.

Some sorely needed good news this morning. We now know what’s coming to the Crane & Turtle space after ANXO pop up concludes – Crabs!!!

Paul Ruppert and his team at Warehouse Industries are launching a neighborhood crab shack on Upshur Street in Petworth.

CAPPY’S CRABS will open on Friday May 27th at noon to kick off the Memorial Day Weekend, serving blue crabs and pitchers of beer – plus a small menu of sides and specials. Jumbos, Large and Mediums will be available by the dozen. Or buy a half-bushel of steamed crabs for your back-yard party. Spend the summer eating crabs and drinking beer on the patio at Cappy’s Crabs!

Designer Nick Pimentel will transform Crane & Turtle from elegant French/Japanese dining room into a Chesapeake Bay crab house. Picnic tables, hot crabs, happy hour specials, loud music, National Bohemian and Orange Crush!

“The new RPM Italian restaurant has started putting signage up. Space looks huge – seems to cover half the ground floor of the building. It’s located in he 601 Mass building.”

Ed. Note: Previously we learned, “Restaurant serving modern and classic cuisine with 300 seats and a Total Occupancy Load of 350. Requesting a Sidewalk Cafe with 90 seats and a Summer Garden with 60 seats.”

Last week we learned that All Purpose Pizza was hiring and would likely be opening soon. Turns out to be very soon – if all goes well they should be open early next week. I was able to peek inside and while the space was finished yet, you can get a good feel of how things are turning out. This is the new spot from the owners of Red Hen and Boundary Stone. Updates when we have an exact opening date.
