1413 K Street, NW

Caviar fusion lounge out, “Southern-style BBQ” in at 1413 K Street, NW formerly home to the Tattoo Bar. The new liquor license placard posted out front says:

“Restaurant serving Southern-style BBQ. Requesting Entertainment Endorsement for Live Entertainment and Cover Charge. Total Occupancy Load is 350 with seating for 55.”

    WTH is “southern style bbq”?

That space and menu doesn’t evoke the image I’d expect from someplace naming itself “Vieux Carré”.

And someone is naming a restaurant after a place in New Orleans and using the French spelling at that, to sell BBQ? I have no confidence in the food.

      • Yeah, this sounds less appealing than the Chinese Sushi Wine Bar. They’ve managed to likely offend both New Orleans residents and BBQ aficionados. The owners are probably neither.

The Vieux Carre Commission would not be pleased.

“Total Occupancy Load is 350 with seating for 55.”

Doesn’t sound like they are terribly interested in serving food.

This hurts my soul. “southern style” BBQ (makes no sense, there are several varieties in the South) stuck on a name that envokes New Orleans is tragic to me. No one has been able to do New Orleans correctly here. I don’t mind, as it just forces me to go back to NOLA to get my family fix. All the places that claim New Orleans fare have been EXTREMELY disappointing, not sure I have too much confidence in this one.
