Back in August of 2016 there was a Ping Pong Closure scare (so much for the Wahlburgers too eh?) Looks like time is finally up. Calls for confirmation go to a filled up voicemail box. Updates when we learn what becomes of the space.

Sherman and Girard St, NW

Thanks to Amelia for sending:

“I live across from Hilltop Bar and Grill and saw a few weeks ago that it’s closed for kitchen renovations. Well today I noticed they were painting on a new restaurant name! Looks like now it will be called Napoli Pasta Bar. Know any more details??”

Anyone hear more about the plans? Updates as more on the plans are known.

1946 New Hampshire Ave, NW just south of U off 16th

Back in August we first shared the news that tacos would be coming to the former Yamas space (and Subway before them) at 16th and U Street, NW on New Hampshire.  Been getting lots of status request messages and am happy to share that they will be “rolling soon”:

Check out the menu after the jump. (more…)

A reader reports:

“I believe this closure took effect today, but wanted to share. It’s likely the result of the drug raid that occurred a few weeks ago. Allegedly, a promoter was selling illegal drugs on their second floor.”

Wait, what?!?!? Anyone else hear about a raid a few weeks ago?

Piola opened in D.C. back in 2013. They’re located right next door to the newly opened Grady’s.

Anyway, they’ve closed:

2934 M Street, NW

Tough times for Cajun closings.

Pier 2934 opened in the former Little Viet Garden space back in 2014. Updates when we learn what becomes of the space.

“There are plenty of restaurants on M street where you can find good seafood. But how about a steaming bag of buttery, Cajun-style boil of your favorite catch? Not an overly fancy plated piece of lobster tail that you can nibble on… we’re talking a whole bag stuffed with potatoes and corn as spicy as you’d like to have it. We ditched the fine china. Bring your bibs and your appetite!

Pier 2934 is a family owned establishment that wants to share with the Nation’s Capital the same values we hold: having fun, eating good food, and bringing people together. So come in and enjoy a Cajun boil on a warm summer night with the family on our spacious, yet cozy patio, or meet up with friends at the bar for happy hour and some fried finger food and oysters.
Come for the boil, stay for the beignets
