Tom, DC legend, again, knows what’s up

From the Mayor’s Office:

“In anticipation of forecasted snowfall on Sunday, January 19, Mayor Muriel Bowser is deploying the District Snow Team tonight. At midnight, pre-treatment brine operations will begin on all snow emergency routes, including the National Highway System.

The National Weather Service is forecasting snowfall to begin on Sunday morning between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. and to continue throughout the day with the potential for several inches of accumulation. Temperatures are expected to drop throughout the weekend, with the potential for single-digit wind chill temperatures on Monday, January 20. (more…)

Meet Eleanor – Your New Best Friend!

Eleanor is a 6-year-old, 53-pound Black and Tan Coonhound mama with a heart full of love and a playful, gentle spirit. She’s a pro at snuggling, loves playing with her doggy friends, and can’t resist a good toy.

Crate-trained and making progress on house training, Eleanor is smart, eager to please, and learning commands like “sit.” She’s great on walks, politely slowing down when the leash tightens, and greets everyone—dogs and humans alike—with a wagging tail.

Eleanor thrives with smaller dogs but isn’t a fan of cats. She enjoys active mornings followed by mellow afternoons, making her the perfect balance of energy and relaxation – like most mature hounds.

bus

“Dear PoPville,

Watched a disabled patron navigate their walker with all their groceries down the curb to walk to the L2 bus because this Coach Express charter bus parked in the official WMATA bus stop. I should note, I called 311 about 20 minutes before this happened and they said they would send MPD and the bus remained.”

Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

Wanted to follow up with you on your post about the Amazon thefts on Connecticut Ave. Last week our building in Columbia Heights had a similar but slightly different issue. We had an Amazon delivery driver come in to make several deliveries (in Columbia Heights.) Once he delivered them to each apartment, he took a photo as they normally do to certify delivery, and then we believe picked the packages back up and took them with him. (more…)

Thanks to Margot (and others) for sending the wild stories about the allegations regarding Compass Coffee from co-founder Harrison Suarez:

“In 2013, I co-founded Compass Coffee with my close friend from the Marines. In July 2021, after years of hard work and while I was out of the country, my co-founder and his father forcibly exited me from the company and refused to compensate me for my equity.
