Spotted Lanternfly Spotted! Squash ’em if you see ’em!!

via Urban Forestry in DC

“Dear PoPville,

I saw my first spotted lanternfly this week on Capitol Hill. A reminder to folks to squish them if you find them and to look out for their egg masses, which typically appear in September. Also, if you’ve got tree-of-heaven in your yard,

check it out because that’s a preferred host (and another non-native species). Ailanthus altissima – Wikipedia DC has a website with more information and a place to report sightings at too: Invasive Species – Spotted Lantern Fly | DDOT Urban Forestry (dc.gov).”
