From a press release:
“Since first opening its doors 45 years ago on May 30, 1980, the 9:30 Club has hosted more than 11,000 artists and nearly 8 million fans. That’s a lot of music, and a lot of memories. That’s more than 11,000 nights of irreplicable experiences; unique performances and interactions that each strike like lightning. And while you can’t bottle lightning, you can photograph it.
Jim Saah has been doing just that for almost as long as the 9:30 Club has been open, capturing his first show at the original 9:30 Club on October 17th, 1982. When people picture the original 9:30 Club, with all of its grit and grime and myth and music, one name is synonymous with those images, and that’s Jim. (more…)

The Triumph Trek at the Rio is the ultimate celebration of strength, recovery and hope — and everyone is invited.
On Sunday, September 20, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation and Adventist HealthCare Home Care Services will gather at Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg for an untimed walk-or-wheel around the accessible lakeside path. This is not a race. Scooters, wheelchairs, walkers, strollers and every pace are welcome, and no one finishes last.

Crisis apparently NOT averted…
Comment from Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton: “Closing Dupont Circle for #WorldPride is an unnecessary affront to DC’s vibrant LGBTQ+ community, for whom the park holds historical significance.I’m disappointed that NPS is moving forward with the closure, despite MPD rescinding its request and my urging NPS to keep it open.”
