“Dear PoPville,

The motorcyclist that died in this crash was Romain Picou. Romain died Wednesday morning driving to work on Kansas Avenue NW, when a car turning left from Madison entered the one lane road and Romain’s lane. Romain hit the passenger door and was thrown off of his motorcycle. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Romain died from his.

Romain was my friend and a brother. I simply don’t have the words to convey the character, class, and charisma he carried with him everywhere he went. His light was snuffed too soon and while it breaks my heart, I am honored to have known him. (more…)

Dupont Circle

Thanks to Andy for sending the update above.

To all who sent me this video in the first place – I will never forgive you.

Update from the Washington Post:

“The inspector dinged the shop for a handful of mostly minor violations, including no soap or paper towels at the hand-washing sink, a dirty can opener and “two dead roaches,” according to the inspection report.

“There were no indications of rat droppings or anything inside the establishment,” said Alison Reeves, a spokeswoman for the health department.

(The inspector arrived Friday afternoon, and Dupont Pizza is back in business.)

The owner said the video dates back at least three years, and maybe longer.”

Columbia Heights

Tons of messages started coming just before 10pm last night. Not sure if there were two incidents but we got the video above after 2am. Did anyone happen to hear what was up.

Ed. Note: I find with the fog/clouds that video above is mesmerizing and I cannot stop watching it.

“Dear PoPville,

This weekend is the 3rd annual Best in Shaw Dog Show, which we have participated in each of the last two years. It has been a fun, community event and raises money for a good cause.

That is why it was disappointing to see the organizers recently announced that this year’s event will feature former Trump administration official Omarosa Manigault Newman as a “celebrity judge.” (more…)
