To celebrate DC native Haili Blassingame’s debut novel, THEY ALL FALL IN LOVE AT THE END, Lost City Books is throwing a launch party themed around messy love stories. Haili, and a crew of writers she has assembled, will read excerpts from their work, but there will also be audience participation in the form of anonymously submitting messy dating stories. Thanks to Michael for reporting: “Spring Mill Bakery at 8th & G SE has posted a sign that it will be closing at the end of the month (other locations will remain open). Although I haven’t seen it in writing anywhere, scuttlebutt on the street is that Call Your Mother will take over the space.”
Spring Mill opened here back in 2011. In September of last year we learned that the uber popular Call Your Mother was planning on opening up a location on Capitol Hill (after Georgetown opens.) Update: EaterDC now confirms the Call Your Mother part!!

“May we have more detail about the below incident/alert and why it was not included in the crime report?
(Thu, Jan 23) Alert: STABBING IN THE 700 BLOCK 5TH ST NE. Lookout for 3 B/M JUVENILES WEARING ALL BLACK CLOTHING”
An MPD Captain replied:
“Three suspects assaulted an individual and forced them inside their residence. While inside, the complainant attempt to defend themselves, and was stabbed by one of the suspects. All three suspects fled the scene. The classification was ultimately made as a Burglary I, which may have been why it wasn’t recognized on the crime report. Thank you.”
Well that explains the whole lunar parade appearance we marveled about yesterday.
