What the Helen of Troy is This

Last night around 6pm I started getting messages like this from the rural juror:

“Stuck at ATL. They just said that we might have to wait for 45 min or they might divert us from Reagan DCA to Dulles IAD”

DCA Flight Delays reported: “Due to OTHER/EQUIPMENT traffic mgmt prgrm causing ground stop for some arriving flights.”

Then The DC Pope sent us the crazy photo above and this even crazier video of his plane landing in the dark: (more…)

From MPD:

“I am happy to announce an arrest has been made in the spate of egging incidents around Capitol Hill over the past couple weeks. Today at approximately 4:15, two residents separately called 911 to report seeing the egging suspect around Tennessee Avenue NE. Responding patrol officers quickly located a suspect and he was arrested for several counts of Defacing Property. (more…)

coffee

“Dear PoPville,

I wanted to nominate a Friday Question of the Day: What is your favorite coffee shop? We’ve been trying to hit more coffee shops lately, and I was wondering if people have any favorites for good coffee, wifi, decent pastries or sweet treats, and comfortable to sit and enjoy for a while.

Along the same lines, I was also curious about where people go for their “third place,” i.e., a social environment that is not home or work? Bar? Coffee shop? Library?

DC Government

From Council Chair Phil Mendelson:

“This morning, all 12 members of the DC Council, in their personal capacity as elected officials, have joined together to issue the following statement on former Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans’s decision to run again for DC Council:

All of us agreed to expel Jack Evans from the DC Council after an exhaustive investigation found numerous violations of our Code of Conduct. Mr. Evans resigned before we could formally vote to expel him last week. His decision to run for Ward 2 Councilmember again, which we do not and cannot support, shows a willful and arrogant disregard for ethics and is not in the best interests of the District. It is time to rebuild the public’s trust in the Council, which is why it is time to move on and focus on the issues that matter most to the residents and businesses of our city.
